Here's the reason for the delay: The book has been finished for quite some time. I even had the editor booked so that she had a month to edit it. Then about the first or second week in August I accidentally deleted half the book! Luckily, I print out finished books so I was able to re-copy the book back into digital form but the delay of re-copying caused me to lose my editor window. (editors are booked pretty solidly and if you miss your booking and they have to reschedule, it could be weeks to months before they can get back around to you) Since I have two English degrees, I decided to edit it the best I could and still deliver the book on time. August 31st. After several passes, I found a lot of inconsistencies and story stuff that needed my attention. I ended up re-writing some chapters and adding several more chapters. Since this is the final novel, I want it to have a satisfying end to the series and not be a hack and slash, cobbled together ending. So, the past week I have been working through a severe toothache and other ills to get it edited for the release date. Amazon requires I have it all done 10 days before release but I have 6 or 7 more days to tweak it until they lock me out three days before release. Well, today (the final, FINAL deadline) I struggled with releasing it and adding a note warning the pre-order people that it was poorly edited but the edited version would be out shortly, or delaying the release so my editor would have time to professionally edit it and it would be completely done. I spent all day today editing and going over it again and I realized the book is darn good story-wise but still has grammar errors. It really needs the sharp eyes of my editor so I reluctantly set the book back for a Sept. 16th release date to give me time to have my editor edit it and get a polished and finished book out to you. I just couldn't stick people that pre-ordered with a sub-par book even though Amazon will punish me. I'm not kidding, they really will punish me!
