Well, it's been a long hard road. Getting this series off the ground has been an experience. I sometimes wish I had tackled something easier like Brain Surgery, or String Theory!
In my haste to deliver a great story I have, perhaps, been a little over zealous trying to get said story into as many hands as possible. Instead of promoting it, I released several different versions of it, to the point where people wondered if I was trying to squeeze every cent out of the series. I assure you I was not. It was just my first baby. I was a complete noob!
But now that I am older and wiser and my writing has matured some, I am learning valuable lessons and paying heed to them. I am only now beginning to promote the series and advertise. With all my success, I have merely tapped 1% or 2% of the potential fantasy audience out there. I have many more eyes to reach!
So, before I launched the first promotions and advertisements, I went over the series from top to bottom. I re-edited it and improved the series. I raised Defenders of the Sacred Land to a higher standard of writing, I re-edited the map to fit better with the story. I updated the glossary. I moved the final chapter from Defenders to the 1st chapter of Exiles (it belonged there anyway) and I absorbed the former book 3 into book 2.
I am also changing the covers to illustrate the changes. This series will basically be a trilogy from start to finish, except for the free, lead-in novella I am working on. Defenders now comes in at around 120000 words and Exiles is close to 150000 words. Legacy will now be the third book in the series. I plan to be done with it sometime in June 2015. It will be around 170000 words.
This is absolutely the last re-edit of the series. I have no interest in revisiting it after this re-edit. I am really happy with it now. So, the re-edit is almost done, I am writing the lead-in novella (almost done) then I am finishing Legacy over the next few months. After that, I will be moving on to the next series, which I have already planned much better and I will not be making the same mistakes again with.
I apologize for flip-flopping around so much. I think I have a handle on it now.
p.s. if you have the old Exiles and you still want the former 3rd book, Redemption. It is still available as The Sacred Land Series part 5 Redemption.
