Or something like that. That quote is a paraphrase from Godfather III when Al Pacino's character is lamenting about having to stay in a life of organized crime when all he wants to do is go legit and move on. For those of you who have patiently stuck with me through all the changes and growing pains of authorship with the Sacred Land Legacy you know I have struggled to make the series the best of its kind. And I have learned so much! Over the course of the series I have kind of neglected the sister prequel series The Wielder Cycle. I hardly ever promoted it and I only really significantly changed the first book Wielder: Apprentice from the original back story of Lady Shey I wrote it in anticipation for the Sacred Land books. I expanded it into a novel because of all the positive feedback I was getting about the character. From the beginning it was supposed to be a YA or even Middle grade series. The younger covers and the extremely fast pacing was supposed to hold the interest of younguns! Well, that series has come back to bite me too. Specifically, The age difference between what I anticipated for each series has caused The Wielder Cycle to be a bit misunderstood and I think people demand it be the same quality standard that the Sacred Land Legacy is now. I finally started promoting it and the few reviews I started getting were bad, worse than I ever anticipated, with comments like it's extremely fast paced and there is little build up to huge revelations. These are 1 star reviews. Again, it was written with fast pacing for a reason. It has a lot of twists and turns for a reason. But, I understand the confusion. The fact is, I have not promoted it much and I have not put much effort into it because it was a backstory expanded into a novel and I have never been happy with it as a prequel series. I had every intention of leaving it alone (even with the 1 star reviews) and moving on. I am almost ready to publish the final Sacred Land book and I wanted to finish writing Wielder: Master next month and be done with it all so I can write the really cool projects I have started that are waiting in the wings. But, when so many reviews on both Goodreads and Amazon have the same issues with the book and they continue to be bad, I can't just leave it in that condition. If it's wrong it's in my nature to try and fix it. I have begun expanding it into a bigger novel, fixing the pacing and adding other content to make it on par with the Sacred Land Legacy. Look for the second edition of Wielder Apprentice to come out soon. I also aligned the two series much better so they fit better and read similar to each other. I won't be changing the cover or petitioning Amazon to update the book for former purchasers (they rarely do that anyway) I will be giving it way for free for a few days after I publish it so if you want the updated story watch this site and the book page on amazon when the book updates to the SECOND edition to snag a free copy of the updated book. It might be a month or so because I am right in the middle of getting Crusade for the Sacred Land ready for it's debut later this month.
