Wielder: Apprentice is now a new book rather than a revamped, older novella. I had to strip it down to the core and rebuild it from the ground up, which I did. Very little of the original writing is still in the novel. (although most of the original story is still there, just re-written) I am about 95% done with it now. I do expect to release it this month. i just need to work on the map since this series takes place before the War that created the Sacred Land. Symbor is known as Old Symbor on the Sacred Land Saga map and what is called Symbor in the Sacred Land Saga is called Paladine in the Wielder Cycle etc. The War of the Oracle and the creation of the Sacred Land changed a bunch of stuff.
As soon as I finish Wielder: Apprentice, I will continue on with the next Sacred Land novel. (See and read chapter 1 of the next Sacred Land novel in my last blog post) It will be much easier to write because A. It's all original, B. It will be 50000 words rather than 100000 words. and C. it's about a quarter written. In my experience, it's much easier to write than it is to re-tool writing already written like I am doing now. Right now, it's too soon to put an ETA on the next Sacred Land novel but I will work on it every day until it's done.
One last issue: Ever since Amazon launched Kindle Unlimited, I have been struggling to stay "visible" on Amazon where new readers can discover my work. Changing to the new 50000k novel format has helped because there are more books now to discover. I don't necessarily like the change and it was hard to split my novels, but I need to stay visible on amazon to continue to make sales so I can continue to work on new material. Don't get me wrong, my books sell pretty well but they sell well because I constantly advertise, promote, change categories, put books on sale occasionally and so forth. (time I could be spending writing new material!) It has been difficult to stay on the radar so new readers can find me. So, I am asking all my fans to recommend, loan, tell people about my work so new readers can find me. If you are a fan, join my mailing list. I only send out emails when I release a new book. Tell others to join my mailing list (sign up takes a second and it's located on the home page of this website) It is a huge motivator for me to know you are waiting for my next novel(s). It keeps me writing regularly. I have a tendency to bog down and get lazy and getting good sales and keeping in touch with fans is the fuel to my fire! I want to write the best fantasy/sci fi on amazon and beyond! It's my goal to keep improving and bring you new, fresh stories. I don't get writer's block and I have many more stories to tell. Stick with me, I am just getting started!
