The Sacred Land Legacy will no longer be a serial (books that continue on to the next book without an ending) I have reforged the entire series into a trilogy. Book 1 Dragons of Destiny will be released May 6th 2016. Each book in the trilogy has been revisited and now has a beginning, a middle, and an ending with the main story-line continuing on to the next book. Book 3, Dragons of Divinity will finish out the series.
What does this mean for those of you who have purchased the series as a serial? Well, Book 6 will still be released as a short book with about 17 chapters titled Crusade for the Sacred Land as planned. The same chapters will be added onto the ending of Dragons of Divinity to finish it out as well. Dragons of Divinity will be about 130k words. In fact each book in the trilogy is about 130k words plus.
So, do you now need to buy the trilogy? That's up to you. I am still honoring the serial with an ending and a final book, but if you want to see the changes and the new endings you will need to get the trilogy. Eventually, in the far future, the serialized version will go away forever, but I have no immediate plans to take any of them down yet. There will be NO changes to any of the 5 serialized books that were previously published! I want the purchase of the trilogy to be voluntary and not mandatory to finish out the series.
Here is how the books figure into the new trilogy: Book 1 Dawn of the Sacred Land and Book 2 Defenders of the Sacred Land have been combined and rewritten with Drakkius being the main villain. They make up Dragons of Destiny with a new ending different from what was in Defenders. There are subtle changes throughout.
The final few chapters of Defenders of the Sacred Land, all of Exiles from the Sacred Land, and most of Redemption of the Sacred Land make up book 2 Dragons of Discord. It also has a main villain and a new ending. Again, you don't have to read the trilogy if you are enjoying the serialized books. The serialized version will be still be competed as is.
Finally, Book 3 Dragons of Divinity (no cover yet) will consist of the final few chapters of Redemption, all of Battlefield of the Sacred Land and the soon to be released Crusade for the Sacred Land (the final 17 or so chapters of the series) Again, reading the trilogy is voluntary if you are reading the serial you may continue to do so. I personally believe the trilogy is much better as it adds some new insight and some subtle changes but you are still going to get a satisfying ending to the series if you only read the 6 serialized versions.
I don't want anyone feeling like they have to spend the money on material they have already mostly read. The trilogy is meant to garner new readers without hurting the veteran readers. Of course, I would love for everyone to support me and get the trilogy too!
I never really intended to write a serial but it just kind of happened. In the future none of my series will ever be serials again! They are too difficult to promote and maintain.
